OUR GOD SLAYS !

Friends we often hear the discourse that our God, the most High God, the King of Kings He saves, He reigns and He repays and so on. All these are true attributes of our God. Yes, our God reigns, our God saves but perhaps we have not thought much about the fact that our God Slays ! God has a plan to save, yes,  but He also has a plan to SLAY ! I do not know if you have as yet come into contact with that side of Him, but when I look back at my life I see that He has slain a lot of things and I can virtually count and name the number of things that His Holy sword has touched in my life.

When Saul was anointed King, Samuel immediately brought Him a word from God asking Him to slay Amalek , in 1 Samuel 15 :3. "Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not: But slay.....: Dear friend in the Lord, could it be that before God does anything significant in our lives He demands us to slay? Could it be that God's big plan to save sometimes starts with SLAY? Is there not a chance that the means to get to that point of victory that we so much yearn for lies in a simple obedience to SLAY? There are somethings that God takes away in order to establish His good will. For Saul it was Amalek, and I believe at some point in our lives, in order to get to the next level of our walk with God, in order to be what we ought to be and possess what He desires for us we may have to SLAY 'Amalek'.

Sadly Saul and the people spared Agag the King of Amalek and the best of the sheep and oxen and will not utterly destroy them, so God obviously could not be behind Saul and withdrew from Him. The Lord lamented in 1 Sam. 15:11 'It repented me that I have set up Saul as King...He is turned back from following me and has not performed my commandment'. Friends sometimes it may be that we do not know or we still need grace to SLAY what we need to SLAY and God's grace is available to see His command through but when God demands that we let go off certain lifestyles, certain desires and way of being, certain company we keep and certain things we are attached to or running after but which bring us harm and hinder His will, let us not ever be blatantly disobedient to the point of denying what we have been told to do or turning a deaf ear. Let's rather ask for Grace to do it and let us do it promptly. If not, His power and glory cannot fully dwell with us.

So, concretely, what does God SLAY? He simply slays everything that is not in accordance with his will, everything that violates his purpose, every thing that raises itself above the knowledge of His word in your life He will take away, He will slay. He slays just like with the Amalekites, anything that lies in wait for you in the way in order to destroy you later in the future. Anything that someday can become a trap and a hindrance to your life He desires to demolish. Every vain thing he slays . Every secret and hidden thing that defies His will he slays, every thought that has the potential of standing in the way of his purposes He SLAYS.

He slays dead relationships, he slays dead ambitions he slays foul desires he slays rotten habits, he slays things that seek to slay His own and  he slays in a strategic way. Like with David and his battles, he sets circumstances around in order to slay enemies of his will and of His purpose. He slays any desire to worship other gods and then slays the other gods. He gives no room for contention concerning what belongs to him. He slays the accuser that stands to accuse and opens a door for his anointed . He slays our passion for worldly things, He slays pride and self acclamation,  He slays the thief of our purpose and slays wrong identities worn by those he calls His own. He slays traditions and old thought patterns . He slays...He slays ...He slays ...Have YOU met the God who slays? That side of God that demands that you destroy your Amalekites is as real today as it was before. If you have not met Him in that way, be prepared to meet Him , if you have, be thankful for that. It is part of His redemption plan. What has the Holy spirit convinced you to SLAY? What has the Lord God slain in you or in your life? Give it a thought today and surrender fully to Him.
