You cannot be hidden !

2 Kings 7:3-5 (KJV)

And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?
If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.
And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.
This conversation of the lepers is the debate and the dilemma most of us have when it is time to take a decision concerning God's word, or when it comes to answering God's call on our lives. We ask, 'shall we advance and do this?' or 'should we wait and see', and then we realize if we sit where we are, we die and if we go forward, it looks like we die too. Moreover, like these lepers, anytime we arise to do what the Lord has shown us to do, anytime we try to act on His word and take a step of faith, it's as if 'there is no man there!'. You get to the point where it looks like you are alone and crazy to even attempt to do what God says you should do or become who He says you are!
But what you ought to tell yourself is exactly what these men said; Let me fall unto this thing i fear so much: that huge task, that assignment that i dread, that huge calling inside that the Lord has been urging me to give my life to: 'Now, let me fall on to it! If it saves me, i get saved, if it kills me, i get killed.'When these Lepers got to the battle ground, great victory came because they took a chance at being killed. Being 'killed by your calling' here does not mean a physical death , though people like Martin Luther King literally died for the calling and there are many examples in the Bible of men who died for the faith. You and i, in our days, may be faced with some other kind of tough choice to fulfill our God-given destinies, which may not be physical death. There is another kind of dying that comes with the call, because when you follow the path of God for you, you will deal with tough seasons of loneliness, rejection, uncertainty, betrayal, opposition, gossip and condemnation. And the truth is that loneliness kills, rejection kills, betrayal kills. All these things can come up against you when you decide to walk in faith with God 'unto the host of the Syrians' in order to accomplish the task He has given you. When you try to cross the barrier from where you used to be to where God says you ought to be, you can get intimidated by the'host of the Syrians' ahead of you. However the truth is, if you stay where you are, you die : within you,you die, something withers, the call weeps, your purpose dies if you refuse to follow God's plan and arise in faith. So what can you do?
Matthew 5:14 Says
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Note what it says, 'a city set on a hill cannot be hidden'. Your calling is like a city set on a hill. The real you that God made you to be is like a city set on a hill, it cannot be hidden. So what you ought to do is strive to live according to this mandate. Note here the similarity between the idea of 'City on a hill' and the city the Lepers were afraid to enter into in 2 Kings 7. They said well, we want to go, but 'the famine is in the city and we shall die there'. The reason why most people do not answer to the call of God, is that they see famine in the city on the hill: over there they will lose some friends, they will have to give up pleasures and selfish dreams so they hide, and choose to die in their own little corner; they do not want to be real with God, seek God, obey God, or live for God. They refuse to take the steps it takes to climb up there and be a city set on a hill. What a loss that is. May that not be your story.
That light that Mathew 5:14 mentions is the life of Christ in every believer. It is easy to keep this light to yourself. It is even easy to hide this light, to keep the main thing, the main reason why you are who you are, the source of your life, the light of your life, as a secret, something in the background, or as a little spark for yourself, and then show people what they would like to see, or what they may find acceptable, what they can 'easily accommodate'. But today the Word of God is saying 'shine the truth and the light' and know that the state of other lives around you depends on what you do with this LIGHT you have. There is a light you have as a child of God in your family, workplace, school, amongst your friends and in the world: the light of His word, His Kingdom, His goodness, His calling and you should not hide it under any basket of fear or conformity. Come out of the shadows and begin to shine the Light of God in you. Have that twilight faith of the lepers that causes you to arise even when there is no one there, or even when things are not clear and march on to what the Lord is calling you for. And you will be amazed to find that the very thing you feared to do is what carries your deliverance!

May light shine through your life as you follow God's purpose and as you obey and heed His call. Amen .
